Thrive at work - Blend in and Stand out

On a walk  with my friends in the country, I saw a pheasant, actually, all 5 of us did. One of my friends remarked on how well it blended in with the scenery and grass. I don't know if you guys have seen a pheasant, (picture below). They're quite distinctive good-looking birds. They are easily recognisable. For some reason, this made me think of enablers for thriving at work; we want to be recognised for what we do but at the same time like the pheasant, we want to ensure that we blend with others. We can fit in with what's going on, whilst at the same time being distinguishable and leaving our mark. Knowing when and how to camouflage and knowing when to let our tails ship.

Anyway I thought that would be a nice thing to think about how we thrive at work as individuals, what things we want to be distinguished.  We want to be innovative but we need to know when to be innovative and when to be a team player doing what the team is doing. Support the team, bring your own unique style and flare to what the team is doing.

A lot of you who've driven along the countryside might have seen a pheasant walking along the countryside... that could be you, recognisable, doing your own thing but also still contributing to the bigger picture; in this case the beautiful countryside.

Thrive at work... I welcome your thoughts...
